ModCam is an iPhone app and does not run on iPad. Older iPhones lack the sensor and processing hardware it depends on.
Tap Try Again. If that doesn't do it, leave ModCam and reopen it. This usually means iOS handed the camera to something else — another camera app, a video call, or the Control Center — and hasn't given it back yet. Closing and reopening ModCam reclaims it. If it persists, restart the phone, and check that ModCam has camera access in Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera.
That is expected, and it is the point. ModCam saves the sensor data as it was recorded. When you open that DNG, Photos develops it with its own rendering — its own tone curve, colour, and noise handling — which is not the same rendering the ModCam viewfinder uses. Different developer, different picture, same file underneath. Open the same DNG in Lightroom or Capture One and you will get a third look. None of them is wrong; they are interpretations of one unprocessed capture.
The sensor only accepts certain discrete values. When you set a value between two of them, the hardware snaps to the nearest one it can actually do, so the number that comes back can be off by a few units from the number on the dial. ModCam reports what the sensor really used rather than what you asked for, which is why you see the difference. It is sensor quantization, not a bug, and the effect on the exposure is negligible.
Straight into your own photo library on the device, as soon as they are captured. ModCam has no cloud, no account, and no network access of any kind — see the privacy policy.
Because turning a coordinate into an address means asking a server, and ModCam does not talk to servers. Tapping the location opens the Maps app of your choice — Apple Maps or Google Maps, set in Settings → Maps — at that coordinate, and that app takes it from there.
ModCam cannot show a viewfinder without camera access, and iOS only asks once. The error alert has an Open Settings button that takes you straight there; turn Camera on for ModCam and reopen the app.
